9 week appointment

Ugh...eat, spit-up, fuss, repeat...since 6ish tonight. No end in site. I just took him out of a sleep sac and swaddled him in hopes it helps. I'm desperate. Tuesday he got his shots. Yesterday he showed some of this fussiness too. I blamed it on his low fever and the shots and hoped today would be better. Today went fine until he woke up from our outing out. I'm trying something called a block feeding since he has been demanding to be fed every 10 minutes. I'm going to let him nurse on the same side for 2hours, in hopes he gets tons of hindmilk. Which in turn should finally quinch his hunger. One hour in and he's still eating off and on.
I know he doesn't feel well and I know they say babies don't overeat. I also thought babies weren't capable of fighting sleep at this age either. He most definitely does fight it. But when your baby keeps eating and spitting up a little with each burp you begin to feel he's eating too much. So then you doubt that he knows what he wants. It's rough.

In more positive news his dr. appt went well. He's 11lbs 6oz and 23". Everything looks good. I think he was somewhere around the 50-60th percentile. He even took his shots pretty well. He gave out one terrible scream and turned blood red, but then he was done. Afterwards he got to meet his great grandmom for the first time.

Some updates: I'm enjoying getting out of the house with him. We went by work, BRU, and grandmom's. He loves the car. He's gave him a bottle a few weeks back and he took to it easily. Starting this past Saturday, he's slept through the night 5+ hours each night. He also had his first real bath (vs a sponge bath) this week. He seems to really like them. He's smiling more and making more happy sounds. Everything is ridiculously cute.

  1. Awww...glad the first appointment went well. It's so hard to see them get "pricked". Pitiful!!! :(

Have you tried Mylicon drops (I'm sure you have...), but, they worked wonders when Jack was pitching little fits like that...it was just gas. Also, I'm sure you've tried this too...but the Baby Bjorn was almost all that worked for Jack at that stage. It calmed him like nothing else! Best of luck to you. It's tough to figure them out.

Can't wait to meet the little guy! :)
