Wake or let sleep? Did you all wake a sleeping baby during the day? Up until 6.5 weeks I woke him up. But last week I decided to start letting him tell me when he wanted to be awake. And for the most part, he stayed on schedule with the regular feeding every 2.5 hours.
He's at a 3 hour nap and I'm wondering if I should wake him. what did you all do?
I wouldn't wake him and also wouldn't worry about feeding him every 2.5 hours...he will let you know if he's hungry. We didn't do a schedule with Jack and he basically created his own...which was much easier on both of us! We did "feeding on demand" rather than creating a schedule for him. Now, he goes to bed at 8 p.m. and sleeps until about 9:30 a.m - with a 2 hour nap during the day.
ReplyDeleteI've always heard that if they are sleeping...they need it and to let them be. He will wake on his own if he's hungry. :) That's my 2 cents...hope it helps!

ReplyDeleteI love your point, "he's sleeping for a reason". I can follow that logic from now on. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWalker set his own schedule and is doing really well. At nearly 5 months old he's going 4-5 hours between day feedings and he's sleeping about 8-9 hours at night. I have on occasion woken him up to feed him but only on rare occasion. He'll let you know when he's hungry. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm going to echo everyone about letting him sleep. Also another point, think of his day as a structured routine instead of a schedule. You're not going by the clock but rather a grouped set of activities with flexibility (i.e. wake up, eat, play, then back to sleep). Let me know if I have thorough confused you. The only time I would wake him up is if he naps well into the evening when it might interfere with his night time sleep.
