Mom and I went out Saturday to pick up all the consumable items you need for a baby. It reminded me of moving into my first apartment. I needed everything. Thanks to Grandma for bying bump some of the stuff, because it was also way more expensive than I expected.
So the point of the trip was to get us set up for Bump, hopefully in 1-2 hours (because I'm not getting around well anymore), and set me up so I can pack "The Bag". 5 hours later I finally tell my mom "I'm done". I was pretty impressed with myself making it that long, and I didn't feel I was pushing myself to go that long until that last 15-30 minutes.
Anyway, one thing that was bothering me throughout the day, was that Bump wasn't moving around as much. I tried to brush it off, and remind myself that I was up and walking and they say that this rocks the baby to sleep. Usually I'm sitting down and he's just a moving all over the place. But I was still mildly concerned. And I'd had a few new pains through the day if I tried to walk too fast. I told Trev about it and he was cute. He told me he didn't appreciate me acting so nonchalant about the changes. He's a good man :).
Sunday I did a few things around the house, but mostly rested and Bump was back up to his old self, reconfiguring the shape of my belly throughout the day. Trevor witnessed this countless times. So everything seems to be back to normal. I also read that a symptom of 34 weeks is reduced movement. I guess he chose to sleep Saturday off.
Last night I went to do some stretches and found that I was able to stretch further than I had been. I'm no Gumby, but I was able to touch my toes. This was surprising and appreciated. I "had" felt better yesterday. So maybe all that walking loosened me up. I woke up this morning feeling pretty good, too. Is this the signs of nesting approaching? Body begins to feel better so I can get done what remains on the never ending list? Maybe, though I'm here at work still unmotivated. :)
Busy week for us. Newborn care tonight. Last birth class tomorrow. And 35 week ultrasound on Friday. I can't wait to find out everything about Bump (weight, size, due date, labor choice, etc). It's also 5 week picture update. With the new pains I wondered if Bump was dropping, but when I look in the mirror, I think I'm about the same. The 35 week photo should confirm any location changes since 30 weeks.
It's completely normal for babies this far along to move a lot less, especially when you are on the move. Not much room to stretch plus the rocking really quiet them down. As long as you can get your ten counts after you sit down and drink plenty of fluid, all should be well. I remembered how constantly worried I was with Chase. Welcome to the world of parenthood! You are going to be sickly worried about EVERYTHING from here on out :).
ReplyDeleteThanks Uma. I ended up posting to a pregnancy board and got an overwhelming response of "this is completely normal". So that was nice.
ReplyDeleteI also was told the pains I was feeling are called Lighting Crotch. Which makes them sound waaayyy coooler than they really are :P
My dr. just asks if I've been feeling him lately. she hasn't asked me to keep track of him. I'm sort of relieved, b/c I think that would cause me to worry more if I had a running tally.
You about ready to pop yet?
It's kind of odd that she's not asking you to do a 10-count everyday. It's a really quick and easy way to keep tab of the baby. Every doc and midwife I see here ask me to do it since I was 28 weeks with both pregnancies. Actually that's how I knew Chase was coming--she just stopped moving altogether and I jetted to the hospital because I could always get her 10 counts in about 15 seconds.
ReplyDeleteAnd I was ready about a month ago.
My doctor was like yours Kristi - Pretty laid back about everything. She said it was very normal once the baby started getting crowded in there not to feel much movement...poor thing is running out of room! :) She said as long as I was feeling him some of the time that everything was a-ok.
