I did it. Week 22, and I finished my last chemo injection. 2 more weeks and I'll be "officially" done w/6 weeks....oops I'm sorry...I meant MONTHS...of chemo. I get to welcome back beer, salads, strawberries, sushi...lots of "s's" there. I'm still going to stay away from the nitrates. Bacon may become my birthday dinner in the future.
A few weeks ago I noticed my eyelashes are coming back in. And this past week, my eyebrows started to reappear. Yay! At least a month ago my nails started getting long. They're still brittle, but at least they're growing. My eyelashes are the same way. They kink-up funny in sections. Which I'm assuming is due the treatments.
New Years resolution is to be a better food role-model to Lucius. Let's be perfectly honest and point out that trev and I aren't the best role models when it comes to eating healthy. I am the queen of trying to dirty as little in the kitchen when cooking. I'm going to get over that hurdle and start having at least 2 veggies on a dinner plate. Lucius has been put on a "this is all you're getting for dinner routine." We've read how it takes 8-15 introductions to a new food before you can cross it off your child's plate.
We weren't always this bad of eaters. It definitely went south after Diagnosis back in late July. Time to get back on track. Lucius's 3 year check up put his weight over 90% percentile. So that is a bit of our push towards getting back on track. And now that chemo is gone I should be able to be a better role model. But I'll admit, it's hard to not just grab a bar for breakfast and lunch. We also cut down his milk from 4-5 glasses to 2cups.
We're getting back on track w/potty training too. That one still has a sweet bribe at the end. But I'm looking to switch the bribe to a $1 hot wheels car after so many consecutive days.
Christmas tree is down along w/other decorations. Time to let 2014 start and not give me any more bad news. Just steps in preventive processes.
Happy new year!
