19 months

Our little man is 19 months old. I guess eventually I'll stop these updates since it's becoming harder to find time to compose them. Last update was 4 months ago, so I should have a lot to say:
  • he's got all 4 molars, some are still not 100% thru. I guess it takes a while
  • he's had some white patch on his tongue for 4-5 weeks now. The doctor called it some crazy Asian nickname that we couldn't find anything about on the internet. But he said it's go away, eventually. Skeptical.
  • he's getting pretty good with the spoon so we've added in the fork. Still trying to teach him the "stabbing" feature.
  • I traveled with Lucius on a plane. Never, EVER, do that. screaming, missed connections, hotel stay with only 3 diapers and no supplies, $400 worth of stuff stolen from our luggage, ughh...I'm getting a headache just thinking about it. We came back after 5pm and it went a little bit better with him being tired. It went especially good when you consider that flight was delayed 2 hours.
  • he really began speaking shortly after 18 months. He can say a lot of words. Knows most body parts. Can find things when I ask him to point them out in books. I'm amazed at the turn-around he's had. However, he still calls me mommy or nonny.
  • sits and reads to himself
  • plays on his own. rolls cars, puts on letter magnets, mimics mommy cooking, sorts & stacks
  • loves bath time. I think this duty has become more fun and takes about 30 minutes now
  • FINALLY found something to make his nighttime diaper work. It's called a diaper booster, that only BRU sells. It's like a pad, but it's absorbent on both sides, so once it's soaked the diaper gets to do it's job. This is a big thing for me :)
  • good at petting the dogs, sometimes even hugging them. Vega does best for hugs, and Lucy is the overprotecting sister. Sometimes TOO protective. I could go without the lunges at other dogs on our walks.
  • we still struggle with eating 3 meals a day. He does great for breakfast. He usually eats 3 good things spread out over an hour and a half. Lunch is so-so. And dinner is good if it's something he likes. Otherwise he goes without. I have decided to cut out the snacks/junk in place of meals. If he doesn't like what we're eating, he can have a pb&j. But that's the only alternative. He's obviously happy, so I decided not to worry to much...unless he's had several days of poor eating.
  • we're working on manners. Please and thank you. yes and no. He's so cute. You ask him "is this what you wanted?" and he'll say yes while enthusiastically shaking his head up and down while making no eye contact. It reminds me of a servant bow :) Please is a very drawn out "eeesssssseeeee....." The majority of the time he needs prompting on theses manners. But every once in awhile he does it on his own. Mommy is proud.
  • temper tantrums have started. But 9 times out of 10, they mean it's past nap or bedtime. Not trying to brag, but he really is happy most of the time. That's probably why I have such a hard time when he's having a hard day. It frazzles me.
  • He's started climbing. I caught him one day standing on top of the ottoman in front of the tv. He also religiously uses me and trev to climb all over
  • he loves playing "i'm gonna get you" games especially with daddy.
  •  He sits on riding toys, but still hasn't mastered making them go. I try to show him, and he'll just get off after my involvement.
  • He's had two moles appear on his milky smooth skin. One on his left arm, which he points to a lot. And one on his right leg.
  • Sadly, he's begun to have bad dreams :(. He wakes up 1-2 times a week about 2-3 hours after being put down. I simply pat his back and tell him everything is okay and he's usually asleep in a minute.

Day 2: finally on our way to HSV

I'm am doing good. Started running back around the beginning of may after the in-laws visited and I ate like a pig. I woke up the very next day and started a change. I'm up to week 7 of the couch to 5k...meaning I'm now running without walking breaks. Trev and I started eating better too. Both of these things have started improving all the difficulties of the move...b/c you just feel better when you're healthier. I have a long way to go to my final goal, but I've already knocked out 25%.
uh oh

The fourth of July is coming up. Vega will turn 8. Jake is coming to visit. And Trev has taken the Thursday and Friday off. We'll have to go do something fun and new. It's really cool living somewhere new. It's going to take a long time for us to need to go out of state for a vacation. My folks will be here the following week. And at the end of the month we'll be hitting up the Gillroy festival (something we've wanted to go to for probably 10 years).

I'll leave you with some cute, 18 month, photos my cousin took.
