Happy Halloween

I suppose I should have started this post with a photo of Lucius in costume, but that comes later today. And as all you mommies know, you do what you can, when you can, while the child is sleeping :).

Lucius turned 11 months last weekend. We celebrated by going to the Nashville zoo. He loved the flamingos best.
We've actually had a very busy month. We went to the Madison Street festival.
Which gave him his first sunburn :( however, he was completely unphased by it)
Went to our first pumpkin patch (for all the family)
And Trev's work took us to Nashville. This was our first trip to not see family or friends and stay in a hotel. Trev got to be on the sidelines for the Army Vandy game. Meanwhile, I caught up with an old friend and his newly expanded family, Clint. Ate some delicious chili that I'm still hoping Clint will share the recipe with me.
Lucius is learning more everyday. Here are some new advancements:
  • cruising like a pro, stretching farther to get to his destination
  • this development lead to us having to get a baby gate
  • touches new things cautiously (with one finger)
  • uped his food to 4-6 jars a day
  • has his first successful day on a sippy cup, courtesy of Fernanda. She made him and Lucas real fresh juice and he drank 6oz. Since then, he's been drinking  a lot better from the sippy cups. Maybe I will be able to wean at 12 months afterall (does the happy dance)
  • sticks his tongue out and curls it
  • tries to do the finger/lip game
  • can blow, and will typically do it on command
  • I watched him today, drop and pick up objects from a standing position for 30 minutes.
  • is eating more and more off my plate. Him and I both ate lamb for the first time when we had a gyro in Nashville. He also had his first pancake, which we now deem nap-cakes. He almost had a 3 hour nap afterwards!
  • Turns out he can go all day missing his two naps as long as we're doing something fun and new to him. He missed both naps on his 11month bday b/c we went to the zoo. We could tell about an hour before we decided to leave he was beat, but we kept pushing on through. As soon as we got back to the car he was out in 2 minutes. It's as if he was like "finally, nothing new to take in I'm out".
His first birthday is coming up. I'm excited and surprised at how quickly this year has flown by. Life is good.
