9 & 10 month old updates

I started writing his 9 month blog on August 24 but he woke up from a nap and I never got back to the blog. Another contributing factor was because he came down with a stomach bug on August 28. I'm guessing he caught it from attending his first child birthday party. At first we were slightly happy that he'd caught a bug b/c we know "it'll only make him stronger". But after 2 full vomit sessions, always all over mom, we started to change our tune. I got hit 6 times so it's no surprise I came down with the bug a day later. I can't remember the last time I had a stomach bug. I was probably a kid. That made me feel for him even more. It was horrible. Trevor was fantastic taking care of us while staying as far away as possible :). Needless to say, it took all of us a while to get back into the swing of things.
my sick little man

August 24 - Our little man has reached 9 months of age. We were talking last night how it doesn't seem that long ago that we were going to see our friend's baby in the hospital (who turned a year old) and I was only 23-25 weeks along. Time flies as you get older, and apparently it hits hyper speed when you have a child.

Notice Lucy photobombing his 9 month picture
Milestones (hard to remember the difference since I didn't do this post at 9 months like I was suppose to):
  • had his first sickness
  • switched pediatricians to our dear friend Erik AKA- Uncle Dre (a combo of uncle+dr+erik)
  • has 4 teeth
  • took his first out of town trip to Maryville TN, where he proceeded to stay up till 11PM and later. At least he was happy when he was fighting sleep
  • started pulling up, so we dropped the crib a notch
  • learning to pet the girls (dogs)
  • started needing nightime diapers
  • high fives and sort claps by tapping the back of the other hand

10 Month old Lucius is cruising all over the house. He's still a very happy child. If he's complaining it's because he saw another child and only knows to squeal to let me know that or he needs a nap

Milestones:
  • got his 5th and 6th tooth right after the stomach bug
  • likes pizza (but who's surprised by that?) In fact he demands to try our food all the time. we haven't found a bread he doesn't like
  • still not properly drinking from a sippy cup or straw :( but we have left him with grandparents for 4+ hours and he seems to be fine. I'm going to a meetup group about bf and hoping they can help with this since I hope to wean him around 12 months.
  • started cruising (it happened in the crib) to the left
  • can lean down and pick stuff up while standing
  • hates diaper changes
  • points
  • squeals to let us know he wants something
  • loves meal time. shows signs of growing tired of finger foods if I give him the same ones all the time. I had to start rotating them.
  • beginning to show signs of enjoying reading
  • Loves that Dolly Parton sounding Sonic hotdog commercial.
  • I would say about 80% of his naps and bedtimes he's awake when I put him down. he gives cues that he wants you to put him down.
  • He's taking 2-3 1+hour naps a day and sleeping 10+hours a night. Sometimes 12. It's very nice. However, this is why we can't get out of the house before noon
  • is becoming a chatterbox, especially when he sees other children
I've updated the photosite with photos from the past few months. Enjoy!
